Sharpal is a leading manufacturer of professional and patented multifunction knife and tool sharpeners for the outdoor and sports, garden and workshop, and culinary and kitchen industries. For more than 25 years, the company has been passionately researching and developing quality products that provide consumers with an easy and cost-effective way to obtain a sharp edge.
The SHARPAL Diamond Sharpener is the fastest and most effective way to sharpen an edge. There is a 'break-in' period for diamond sharpeners, during which the surface may appear especially rough. This roughness is due to the final manufacturing process and will be removed over time without impacting performance. As the diamond surface wears down, more and more diamond grits are exposed, and the sharpener cuts faster. Sharpening should be done dry, without the need for messy oil.
The sharpener can be used on a variety of blades, including straight knife edges (including ceramic knives), pocket knives, hunting knives, fillet knives, tactical knives, chef's knives, wide bevel blades, axes, hatchets, machetes, mower blades, spades, scissors, and shears. It can also be used on other edged and pointed tools, such as chisels, router bits, drills, and materials made of carbide, high-speed steel, titanium, ceramics, and other super-hard materials.
To use the sharpener, select the appropriate side based on the condition of the blade. If the blade only needs a touch-up or dressing, use the 1200 grit (12 micron) side. Place the Angle Pyramid sharpening angle guide on one end of the stone, choose the correct angle, and lean the heel of the blade on the desired angle in a perpendicular or slightly angled position to the stone. Push the blade away from you, carving a thin slice off the top of the stone, and repeat this stroke several times, maintaining a consistent sharpening angle. Then, place the angle guide on the other end of the stone and pull the blade toward you, carving a thin slice off the top of the stone, and repeat the same number of strokes as on the opposite side, again maintaining a consistent angle.
If the blade was originally sharpened using the coarse 325 grit (45 micron) side, move to the 1200 grit (9 micron) side and repeat the sharpening process. The SHARPAL sharpeners are designed to be durable, with industrial monocrystalline diamonds electroplated onto a steel base, and can sharpen a variety of materials without the need for messy oil or water.
